Sugar Valley Volleyball Eyes Postseason with Determination and Leadership
LOGANTON-The Sugar Valley volleyball team is preparing for an exciting season with 17 girls on the roster. Head coach JT Bitner, along with assistant coach Tanya Miller-Mitchell, is leading the team through a year of growth and potential. Despite returning four varsity players, the team has faced challenges with injuries and a transfer, resulting in the loss of two starting players. However, the team remains focused and determined to build on last season’s foundation.
Coach Bitner has set a clear goal for the team: to reach postseason competition. A key area of focus this year is improving consistency in passing, a crucial element in pushing beyond last year’s performance. The team’s strength lies in its collective effort and determination to continuously improve in all aspects of the game, though gaining more experience will be vital as the season progresses.
Leadership on the team is driven by Jaelyn Walker, who excels at net play and demonstrates aggressive, effective play. Isabell Culvey is another key leader, known for her hard work and ability to foster unity within the team. Their leadership is helping to shape a positive team culture and dynamic.
This season, the team is particularly focused on key matches against Saint Joseph’s and Midd West, opponents that are similar in size and experience. These matches will be significant tests of the team’s progress and potential.
Coach Bitner also expressed gratitude to the parents and fans for their continued support and sportsmanship in the gymnasium, emphasizing the important role they play in the team’s success.
As Sugar Valley heads into the new season, they are determined to achieve their goals, improve with each match, and build a strong foundation for future success.
