Keystone Central August Voting Meeting
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Thursday’s Voting Meeting of the Keystone Central School Board was brief but much was covered.
Aside from the recognition of the SkillsUSA National Competitors, the meeting was very much “business as usual.”
Superintendent Dr. Frank Redmon provided an update to the board regarding the way meeting minutes are recorded and reviewed having consulted Robert’s Rules of Order on the matter. He also requested that through Robert’s Rules of Order that any corrections to the meetings be submitted prior to them being put on the agenda for approval. He also discussed the Treasurer’s Report and the Financial Report and that the Finance Committee has the first opportunity to review the reports prior to the Work Session.
Dr. Redmon also mentioned that October 8 at 10 a.m. will be the next District-to-County Board Meeting for those of the school board that are available to attend.
Board Member Chris Scaff made a change to the Safety and Security Meetings, mentioning that it will be beneficial for the Safety Resource Officers to be part of the meetings and that some of the officers had expressed interest in being included in the meetings and discussions.
“They want to share with us what they are learning, their training, what they are learning from other schools, and having these meetings without them being a part has been very beneficial,” Scaff expressed.
After much discussion during the Work Session last Thursday, the student handbooks for the 24-25 school year for across the district were approved.
Less than two dozen teachers received advanced degrees or have received advanced credit levels prior to the beginning of the 24-25 school year. Two individuals achieved their Master’s Degree and 20 others received additional educational credits above their Master’s Degree.
The district will also be looking to hire an English Language Learner Paraprofessional. This person must have a two or four year degree in education or a related field or have attained “highly qualified” status. Bilingual-speaking applicants are preferred.
The following Human Resources matters were also approved Thursday night:
