Obituary – Maggie Mayes-Eggler

Maggie Mayes-Eggler, 66 of Mill Hall, PA passed away peacefully in the Williamsport Hospital on July 27, 2024

Maggie was the daughter of the late Donald and Nora (Walizer) Mayes of Mill Hall, PA who survives.

In addition to her mother, Nora, she is survived by her loving husband, Donald Eggler. They would have celebrated 35 years of marriage in September.   Maggie is also survived by one brother Samuel Mayes and a niece and nephew.

Maggie was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on April 30th, 1958.  She graduated from Bald Eagle Nittany High School in 1976.  Upon graduation, she attended fashion design school in Harrisburg and later worked as a fashion designer in New York City.  She was also employed as a graphic designer in Arizona and later returned to New York to work as an assistant for dental surgery.  She returned to Mill Hall in 1987 to work as a graphic artist and later opened and operated her own fabric store “Maggie’s Sampler”.  She also operated a manicuring business “Perfect 10 Nail” in Mill Hall.

Maggie had many interests.  As well as being a gifted sewer, she would also quilt and knit.  She designed and created jewelry in her home studio.  She had a talent for floral design, ceramics, and was accomplished in sketching, painting and interior design.  When she was able, you could also find Maggie in the yard designing and plant landscaping.  She also loved her dogs and cats and over the years rescued many pets from abandonment or the local SPCA.

Family and Friends will be received on Thursday,  August 1, 2024 from 5-7 PM for a Celebration of life at the Gedon Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LLC, 320 Main Street, Mill Hall, PA.  There will be an opportunity to share starting at 7:00 PM.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in Maggie’s name to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Road Lock Haven, PA.
