Clinton 8-10s Fall to Selinsgrove 4-0 in Sectional Opener
By Bees O’Brien
MILL HALL- Clinton softball had the luxury of playing at Central Mountain to open sectional play, but Selinsgrove and their aggressive base running would be too much for Clinton 8-10’s to overcome.
Selinsgrove pitching was on target. Clinton would fail to collect a single base hit and Selinsgrove pitching would strike out 17 batters in the contest.
Selinsgrove would strike first in the bottom of the third inning with a run to take a 1-0 lead. Selinsgrove would tack on 3 more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to hold a 4-0 lead. That score would hold true for the remainder of the game to drop Clinton to the sectional loser’s bracket.
Blake Houser would reach base for Clinton in the top of the sixth inning on a miscue from the Selinsgrove defense on a bunt, but Clinton would fail to drive her in.
With the loss Clinton will be back in action Monday taking on Athens in an elimination game at 5:30p.m. at Central Mountain High School.
