MILL HALL- Area softball teams continued to show just how good of a season 2024 was locally.
On Friday the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association released their 2024 All-State teams in all six PIAA classifications. Area squads Bucktail, Central Mountain and Jersey Shore were all represented.
CM’s Madison Hardy received first team all-state honors at first base. The Lady Wildcats also had Penn College signee Harley Kunes earning second team honors at third base. CM’s final representative was Cora Myers at second team DP.
Hardy batted .485 this past season, led the Wildcats in on base percentage and smashed 4 home runs. Kunes led Central Mountain with a .507 average and connected on 5 home runs. Myers led Clinton County with 9 home runs and was the team-leader with 28 runs batted in.
Bucktail would have a trio of standouts named to the all-state squad.
Eva Sockman would earn first team honors at third base and Mak Wagner joined her on the first team at utility. Wagner will be joining Kunes at Penn College next season.
Bucktail’s Lola English would earn 1A second team honors at second base.
Sockman had another strong season for the Lady Bucks. She would hit a team-high .545, while smashing 5 home runs. Wagner’s .536 average and her team-high 6 home runs were critical. She also did the majority of the Lady Bucks’ pitching with a team leading 2.96 ERA.
English transitioned well to the infield in 2024. Her .519 average trailed only Sockman and Wagner within the county. English also cracked 3 home runs in 2024.
Jersey Shore’s sophomore shortstop Dani Miller would be the only Lady Bulldog to earn all-state honors. Miller was named a second teamer at shortstop.
Miller led the Lady Bulldogs to a District IV 4A title, while batting a team-high .421. Her glove was the biggest factor, sealing up Shore’s interior defense.
Other notable Mid Penn selections included Muncy’s Nolah Moyer as 2A pitcher of the year. Montgomery’s duo of Fallin Reynolds and Madyson Miller were also selected. Reynolds was a second team outfielder in 1A and Miller received first team honors at first base.
St. John Neumann’s Gigi Parlante was named to the 1A catcher second team. Muncy catcher Taylor Shannon was named 2A second team at that position.
