Clinton 8-10’s down Montoursville 14-8 to claim District 12 Championship

WILLIAMSPORT- Clinton 8-10’s softball team used a huge 9-run fourth inning to down Montoursville in the District 12 title game on Wednesday afternoon. Clinton knocked out 8 hits on the night in just 5 at bats.
Montoursville jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Clinton would get on the board. Sienna Schneider got Clinton rolling with a second inning single. Schneider would eventually score in the inning.
Montoursville opened things up in the top of the third inning by plating 5 runs and taking a 7-1 lead.
Back-to-back singles from Josey McCann and Blake Houser in the bottom of the third inning would score Skye Whelshan. Both McCann and Houser scored in the inning to narrow the Montoursville lead to 7-4.
Houser, Schneider, Madlyn Shultz, Cali Emmel all collected hits in a big fourth inning from Clinton. Montoursville committed three errors in the inning, which led to 9 Clinton runs to give them the 13-7 lead heading into the fifth inning.
Montoursville added a solo run in their half of the fifth, but Clinton would do the same in the bottom of the fifth to set the 14-8 final.
Blake Houser led Clinton at the plate with a pair of singles. Sienna Schneider alson added two singles. McCann, Madison Edwards, Madlyn Shultz, Elise Shultz and Cali Emel all had hits, with Emel’s being Clinton’s lone extra base hit on a double.
With the Win Clinton moves on to sectionals which will be hosted this year by District 12. Bracket starts July 13th. Clinton’s first game will be July 14th.
