Lock Haven Fire Department Provides Update on Drowning Incident

LOCK HAVEN-Following a call for a water rescue early Saturday evening Lock Haven Fire Chief Tyler Wooding provided the media the following update Saturday night.

LOCK HAVEN DROWNING INCIDENT/ 22 JUNE 2024

At approximately 445pm on June 22nd, 2024, the LHFD was alerted to two swimmers in distress on the Susquehanna River directly out from the City Beach area. Lock Haven Fire units arrived on scene to find boaters attempting to rescue a 22-year male with no sight of the second victim. The first victim was able to be brought back ashore where the victim was provided medical care by EMS personnel and was then transported to Lock Haven Hospital. This patient was later flown to GMC Dansville in critical condition. After an extensive search by responders, the second, 18-year-old male victim was located below the waters surface but was deceased.
