NORTH BEND – In a heartwarming display of parental dedication and community spirit, a group of parents in Renovo took matters into their own hands when the local school district decided not to hold a kindergarten graduation ceremony this year. Led by Midge Kramer, a pillar of the Renovo community and leader of the local 4-H Organization, she and fellow parents united to craft a memorable event for their children, ensuring their accomplishments were honored in style.
From the outset, Kramer emphasized the importance of parental involvement, urging participating parents to engage with the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and attend school board meetings to stay informed about their children’s education. She also expressed nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the dedicated teachers and staff at Renovo elementary school and all that they contributed towards their youngsters’ success and growth that year.
On the memorable evening of May 30, 2024, Grace Baptist Church in North Bend was humming with excitement as over 250 parents, family members and friends gathered to celebrate the achievements of the kindergarten graduates. The ceremony was kicked off by Pennsylvania State Representative Stephanie Borowicz, who led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Adding to the festivities, the Chapman Township Fire Department had the honor of escorting the class, complete with fire trucks as a surprise for the children. Local community pillars, Martha Sykes and Roland Davenport delighted both children and parents alike as they awarded graduation medals and asked the youngsters about their aspirations for the future.
As the ceremony neared its end, Pastor Mahlon Nevel led a final prayer, bestowing numerous blessings upon the young participants as they begin their next chapters. Bringing a delightful conclusion to the occasion, attendees were surprised with a magical sight as the doors opened to reveal fire trucks outside, and even caught a fleeting glimpse of a leprechaun. Volunteers and leaders from North Bend Farm Life 4H were present to lend a hand, ensuring that parents could unwind and savor the evening’s festivities.
Special recognition was extended to local businessmen, Eric Ditty for his instrumental role in bringing Kramer’s vision to life, as well as to the dedicated team of volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event a success.
The kindergarten graduation of the Renovo Elementary Class of 2024 will be remembered as a testament to the power of community spirit and parental dedication in ensuring that every child’s achievements are celebrated and cherished.
