CMVT stays in postseason hunt with 13-7 win over Sugar Valley

BLOOMSBURG- It was a quick turn around time for Columbia Montour Vo Tech on Saturday morning. The Rams were coming off of a tough 9-7 win at Bucktail the previous evening and didn’t leave Farwell until after 7pm. They were back in Bloomsburg for an early 10am start against another Mid Penn Conference opponent in Sugar Valley Rural Charter.
CMVT would belt out 18 hits and keep their District IV 4A playoff hopes alive with a 13-7 victory over the Phoenix. It was the Rams second win in as many days.
Sugar Valley jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but a nightmare bottom of the second inning would sink any hopes that the Phoenix would finally break into the win column.
Columbia Montour Vo Tech’s 10-run bottom of the second inning would prove to be too much for the Phoenix.
Sugar Valley would plate six runs in a four inning span to keep things interesting, thanks in part to five CMVT errors.
The Rams’ starting pitcher Jaxon Koser would dominate Sugar Valley from the mound and at the plate. Koser would fan 10 Phoenix batters in just 4 innings of work. He would also finish the day going 3 for 4 with a double and a pair of runs scored.
Sugar Valley managed just 4 hits on the day. Lance Winchester and Grayson Hastings each would have doubles for the Phoenix. Lincoln Breon and Sam Goldsmith added singles for the 0-8 Phoenix.
Sugar Valley will next be at Sullivan County on Monday for another Mid Penn Conference showdown.
