Wildcats Roar to Victory: Central Mountain Dominates Doubleheader Showdown

BELLEFONTE-The Central Mountain Lady Wildcats made the trip to Bellefonte for some softball tournament action Saturday. The Lady Wildcats went 2-2 on the day. In the first game of a Saturday double header, the Wildcats faced off with the Tyrone Golden Eagles and came away with a convincing 17-0 win.

The Wildcat bats were hot and they tallied 19 hits in four innings including home runs by Harley Kunes and Cora Myers.  Cirstyn Watson collected 3 hits in five trips to the plate while Katelyn Bowman, Madison Hardy, Madisyn Wian, Harley Kunes, Cora Myers and Taylor Doyle had two each.  Rounding out the hitting for the Wildcats were Taylor Wahlers and Taylor Doyle with one hit each.

Addie McKeague pitched the complete game for Central Mountain and she faced 20 batters, allowed five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

In the second game of a Saturday double header, the Wildcats matched up against Dubois Central Catholic and earned a very hard fought 2-1 victory.

It was a classic pitchers duel from the beginning and both teams found hits hard to come by.  Dubois Central Catholic scored what would be their only run in the first inning.  After the first inning, senior pitcher Addie McKeague took control and allowed only one additional hit the next six innings.  She struck out 8 and allowed only one walk.

Central Mountain wouldn’t score until the sixth inning when Harely Kunes worked a walk and was moved to second base on a SAC bunt by Taylor Doyle.  Taylor Wahlers then drove an 0-2 pitch through to the outfield to plate Kunes and tie the game at 1-1.  In the seven inning, Ava Doyle worked a free pass, advanced to second and was driven in by Madison Hardy with another shot to the outfield.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, with two outs, the #7 hitter for D.C.C. hit a soft liner to right field but a charging Ava Doyle made the throw to first base in time to retire the runner and seal the win for the Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats will be back in action Monday with a road trip to Williamsport.
