Sugar Valley falls to Northwest for the second time in as many days
By Bees O’Brien
SHICKSHINNY- Sugar Valley had a tough couple of days on the diamond. The Phoenix had the tough task of meeting one of the Mid Penn’s top teams in Northwest for the second straight afternoon. The Rangers downed Sugar Valley 11-0 on Monday at Taggart Park and they would nearly do the same at home against Sugar Valley, beating the visitors 11-1 in six innings.
The Phoenix allowed 6 runs through the first two innings, but would allow just a single run over the next two innings.
Sugar Valley trailed 7-0 going into the fifth inning before Lincoln Breon would drive in Cayden Weaver to narrow the gap to 7-1, but the Rangers would counter with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth and they would add a pair of runs in the sixth inning to force the 10-run rule.
Breon led the Phoenix with a pair of hits and the RBI. Weaver collected a hit and scored the lone Phoenix run. Lance Winchester, Gage Lucas and Bryer Martin also had hit for Sugar Valley, who fell to 0-6 on the season.
The schedule only will get tougher for Sugar Valley when they host Benton on Thursday.
