Late inning surge propels CM past State, 11-3
MILL HALL- Central Mountain would be tested early and often against visiting State College on Monday afternoon.
State flexed their muscles early in the first and second innings by scoring a run in each and holding a brief 2-0 lead. The Wildcats would finally heat up in the second inning.
CM would take the lead for good following a four-run inning in the bottom of the second. State College wouldn’t back a way, as they would add another run in their half of the third inning.
The Wildcats would then turn up the pressure by totaling 7 runs in their final three trips to the plate to hold on to the 11-3 win over their fellow District 6 rivals.
Central Mountain’s 11 hits and a pitching trio of Gage Laughner, Brady Myers and Ashton Bennett would keep State College in check. The CM pitchers would allow just 5 hits in seven innings.
Connor Foltz paced the Wildcats’ offense with 2 base hits, including a triple and a pair of RBI’s. Watt Probst collected 3 base hits and a pair of runs batted in. Blake Walker, Chase Beard, Myers, Jase Seltzer, Isaiah Maldonado and Bryce Brungard also collected hits.
CM, now sitting at 5-1 will now make the short trip to Loyalsock on Wednesday for what promises to be an exciting meeting with the Lancers.
