Persing pitches LHU Softball to game-two victory, Bald Eagles split at Kutztown
KUTZTOWN – Behind dominant pitching and strong defense, the Lock Haven softball team won game two, 2-0, on the road at Kutztown to earn a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division split on Saturday afternoon (April 13). Lock Haven fell, 10-2, in the opener.
With the split, the Bald Eagles are now 12-20 overall and 8-12 in the PSAC East. Kutztown moves to 22-17 overall and 10-10 in conference play.

In game two, Faith Persing (Montgomery, Pa./Bloomsburg) earned her team-leading ninth pitching victory on the season as she dealt a complete-game, four-hit shutout to lead the Bald Eagles to the win. Persing struck out one hitter and did not surrender a walk.
Lock Haven scored a run in each of the first two innings and that was all the club needed on its way to a 2-0 victory.
Bella Schmitt (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) got things going with a triple down the right field line to score Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) in the top of the first, before Madison Melius (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) plated Maci Brodzina (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone) with a single in the top of the second.
Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) and McClellan were spark plugs at the top of the order as they each finished with two hits and combined for three stolen bases. Schmitt added an RBI-triple.

In game one, Kutztown used a six-run second inning to build an early lead, before putting the game away in the sixth inning to earn the run-rule victory.
Schmitt and Hailey Irwin (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) drove in runs for Lock Haven.
McLellan notched a pair of hits to lead The Haven on offense.
Six different players found the hit column and the Bald Eagles stole a game-high five bases
