CM downs Shikellamy to win second straight game

By Bees O’Brien

SUNBURY- Central Mountain kept rolling on Wednesday afternoon on the baseball diamond. The Wildcats stormed into Sunbury and knocked off the Shikellamy Braves by an 8-2 count.

The Wildcats led 1-0 entering the top of the fifth inning and would score four runs to build a 5-0 lead. Their lead would swell to 8-0 following a 3-run top of the sixth inning before the Braves would answer.

Shikellamy would finally get on the scoreboard with a run in their half of the sixth inning and would make things interesting in their final at bat by scoring a final run, but it wouldn’t be enough to keep the Wildcats from improving to 4-1 on the season.

Gardy Fravel and Elek Fravel would spark Central Mountain’s offense. The Fravels would collect two hits each, with Gardy collecting 3 RBI’s and Elek knocking in a pair of runs. Chase Beard would hit a double and Blake Walker, Connor Foltz, Jase Seltzer and Isaiah Maldonado all collected singles in the win.

Gavin Bower picked up the win on the mound by pitching 6 strong innings, striking out 4, allowing no hits and walking just 2 batters. Ashton Bennett would close out the game and combine with Bower for a no hitter of the Braves.

Central Mountain will next be in action on Friday when they are set to host Williamsport at 4:30.
