Bucktail baseball falls to undefeated Montgomery 15-0

FARWELL- Montgomery’s baseball team is legit. On Monday night in Farwell, Bucktail found out just how good the Red Raiders are in 2024.
The visiting squad would plate 3 runs in the top of the first inning and explode for 7 more runs in their half of the second inning to build a 10-0 lead after two innings. Montgomery would tack on a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, before scoring 3 more in the top of the fourth inning to get to the magic 15-run lead.
The Bucks failed to counter Montgomery pitcher Parker Bennett, who was in a zone against a Bucktail team that had been hitting the ball well in 2024.
Bucktail entered the game with 30 base hits and were averaging 10 hits a game before Bennett would no-hit the Bucks.
Only Keller Friese, Johnny Green and Tyler Hillyer would reach base against Bennett. All three were walks. Bennett struck out 7 Bucktail batters during his four innings of work.
Montgomery improved to 5-0 on the season and could very well be the team to beat in the Mid Penn Conference this season. Montgomery already has a commanding 12-0 win over Benton and 15-0 wins over Sugar Valley and now Bucktail.
The Bucks continue their busy week today with a road trip to Muncy (2-1) before they host Sugar Valley (0-4) on Thursday. They will then meet District 9 perennial playoff contenders Cameron County on Friday in Emporium and then they’ll compete in the Shamokin Tournament on Saturday.
