LHU Baseball opens PSAC East series with No. 6 Millersville

LOCK HAVEN- The Lock Haven baseball team (6-20, 3-11 PSAC East) opened a four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division series with No. 6 Millersville (23-5, 13-1 PSAC) today (Friday, March 29) at home on Watkins Field.

Millersville won game one, 15-4, and the Marauders completed the sweep with an 11-6 game-two win.

Game 1 Recap:

Millersville won game one 15-4, behind a 14-hit effort.

Lock Haven scored its four runs on eight hits, including two hits from the bat of Zachary McEllroy (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus), who was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and one RBI. He singled in a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Cam Gracey Spring (Grove/Elementary Education) also drove in a run for the Bald Eagles.

In game one, Millersville also benefitted from a strong effort from starting pitcher Carson Kulina.

Game 2 Recap:

In game two, the visitors completed the sweep as Millersville rallied for an 11-6 victory.

For the second game in a row, McEllory did all he could at the plate to spark the offense and he finished with another strong performance with the bat. He was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Francisco Taveras (Muhlenberg, Pa./Muhlenberg) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and a run scored. Both McEllory and Taveras recorded doubles.

Starting pitcher Kevin Worek (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) did all he could to get Lock Haven off to a good start. He went four innings and struck out four while scattering six hits.

Up Next for Lock Haven // SCHEDULE CHANGE:

Lock Haven and sixth-ranked Millersville will do it again tomorrow (Saturday, March 30) as the two teams are set to play in Millersville to close out the four-game PSAC East series.
