Women’s Track & Field celebrates seniors at home meet
LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven women’s track & field team was back in action today (Thursday, March 28), but this time action came in a familiar spot as the Bald Eagles hosted the Lock Haven Midweek Meet at the Glen Allison Family Track & Field Complex.
Lock Haven turned in a number of strong performances and the Bald Eagles also took time to honor their graduating seniors: Hunter Barger (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain), Julia Beck (Irwin, Pa./Norwin), Elaina Klinger (Danville, Pa./Danville), Megan Lysek-Hagy (Perkaskie, Pa./Pennridge), Gianna Marasco (Altoona, Pa./Altoona), Megan Mudger (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) and Olvia Swartz (Rebersburg, Pa./Penns Valley).
The Bald Eagles posted top honors in four different events to highlight the action.
Lock Haven won the high jump, hammer throw, 10,000-meter run and the sprint medley relay.
Alyssa VanGorder (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and Beck finished 1-2 in the hammer throw with marks of 138-02 and 137-01, respectively.
Freshman Reagon Irons (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) posted a victory in the high jump. Her mark of 4-11 helped her take top honors today.
At 10,000 meters, Lysek-Hagy and Gwen Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) finished 1-2 with a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying marks of 39:25.56 and 39:41.13.
After competing yesterday (Wed., March 27) at the Bloomsburg Midweek Meet, today’s action featured mostly relay competition.
The Bald Eagles finished 1-2 in the sprint medley relay with times of 4:21.75 and 4:55.19. The winning time of 4:21.75 was an all-time top-10 mark for Lock Haven.
The Bald Eagles were second (52.45) in the 4×100-meter relay.
Lock Haven finished third in both the 4×800-meter relay (11:58.50) and 4×400-meter relay (4:28.41).
Up Next for Lock Haven:
The Bald Eagles are set to compete at William & Mary’s Colonial Relays on April 4-6 (Thurs. – Sat.) and several members of the team will compete at Susquehanna’s Jim Taylor Invitational on April 6.
