Obituary – Wanda Joanne (Wertz) Long 

In Loving Memory of Wanda Joanne (Wertz) Long 

Wanda, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on March 7, with family by her side.

Born on June 22,1933 in Renovo , PA to Joseph Reuben Wertz and Freda Elizabeth (Gearhart) Wertz. She attended Renovo High school and  met and married her husband , Charles Edward Long. They spent their early years living in Lexington, KY, Tucson, AZ, New Windsor MD, Westminster MD , and Woodsboro MD, where she lended her culinary expertise at Trout’s Market and Lighthouse Seafood in New Market for 18 years.

Wanda was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Lisa Jo Finck, and her husband, Charles Edward Long. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Marlene Haas and Josef Haas of Rio Verde AZ, Beth Tracey Trout and Mark Campbell of Oceanview DE, Stacey Anne Schrager and Eric Schrager of Ewa Beach HI. A brother and sister-in-law , Ronald Gearhart Wertz and Dawn Wertz of Overland Park, Kansas, and a sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly Elizabeth Wertz and Gregory Galardy of Napa Valley, CA. She was fondly loved and remembered by Steve Trout and Randia Khemer of Thurmont , MD.

Family was at the core of Wanda’s existence. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, showering her loved ones with unconditional love and support. The memories of family gatherings, laughter-filled holidays, and heartfelt conversations will be forever treasured as she leaves behind the greatest gifts of her life — 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. 

She enjoyed playing the piano for family , and a masterly gift of cooking. She had a keen eye for beauty and fashion and found joy in creating art that inspired others.  She loved traveling and spent the last 2-1/2 yrs living her best life with her oldest daughter and son in law, Lynn and Josef, in Rio Verde, AZ where she embraced her art classes, dancing and socializing. Her wit and wisdom will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date with immediate family and close friends . She will be at rest next to her husband and parents in Renovo, PA.
