LHU’s Shoats and Harward sweep PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors

LOCK HAVEN – After leading the Lock Haven men’s basketball team to the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship Tournament, Justice Shoats (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville) swept this week’s Eastern Division Athlete of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday (March 4).

The duo ignited the Bald Eagles on a three-game winning streak to end the season, including last week’s victories over Bloomsburg (94-71) and No. 20 Millersville (90-79) to clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming PSAC Championship Tournament.

With the upset-victory over nationally-ranked Millersville, the Bald Eagles clinched their first ever PSAC Eastern Division Championship with an impressive 20-7 overall record and 18-4 mark in the PSAC East.

Shoats has been PSAC Athlete of the Week five times this season, as he earns his second honor on the offensive end, after bringing home the Defensive Athlete of the Week three times this year.

Shoats was dominant on the offensive end last week as he averaged 21 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds.

In the victory over Bloomsburg, the point guard just missed a double-double, dropping 24 points and dished out nine assists.

In the following game, Shoats scored 18 points and dished out six helpers, while pulling in five rebounds. Shoats cracked the program’s top-10 single-season leaderboard with 552 points as a sophomore (10th).

As the only player in the PSAC to rank in the top-10 in both assists and scoring, Shoats ranks second in the conference in points (20.4) and fourth in assists (4.6).

Harward, who earned his second Athlete of the Week on the defensive end, capped off an impressive week with an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double against Millersville, adding a steal.

The graduate senior kicked off the week with 13 points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocks in the victory over Bloomsburg.

The Bald Eagle center also knocked down 4-of-8 shots from behind the arch during the week.

Harward ranks among the top rebounders and shot blockers in the conference this season, finishing the regular season tied for ninth in rebounds per game (6.6) and tied for fourth in blocks per game (1.1).
