No. 23/14 LHU Women’s Basketball closes historic regular season with undefeated home record

LOCK HAVEN – The No. 23/14 Lock Haven women’s basketball team closed the book on an historic 2023-24 regular season with a 58-37 victory over Millersville on Saturday (March 2) and will now turn its focus to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship Tournament.

Saturday was also the program’s Senior Day and the Bald Eagles honored seniors Chandler Swanson (Felton, Pa./Kennard-Dale), Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic), Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley), Kylie Metzger (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central Martinsburg) and Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) prior to the game for their contributions and dedications to the University.

The victory was the sixth straight to close out the regular season for Lock Haven, who improves to 26-2 overall and 21-1 in the PSAC. The 26 victories are tied for the most for the program in 24 years, while the 21 Eastern Division wins are the most all-time.

The 2023-24 PSAC East Champions – Lock Haven, swept every divisional opponent but one, while going undefeated in the West.

The Bald Eagles finished the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record in front of the home crowd.

Lock Haven finished the regular season with the 23rd ranking in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), 14th ranking in the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and No. 4 ranking in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region poll.

Today, Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) dropped a game-high 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor and a perfect 5-of-5 at the line. Jordan added a team-high three steals.

Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) scored 11 points and pulled in five rebounds.

Robinson and Jordan both finished the regular season in the top-20 in scoring, while Robinson (67) led the conference in blocks by 21 and Jordan finished sixth in steals with 59.

Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to go with six points.

Olivia Smith (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) added eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while Leidy dished out a team-high five assists.

After an even start to the game, Lock Haven’s best run came in the third quarter when they steam rushed the Marauders with a 23-10 period. The Bald Eagles knocked down a game-high 9-of-18 shots from the floor, while the defensive unit held the Marauders to 35 percent and didn’t allow a trip to the free throw line.

Lock Haven outscored Millersville, 11-7, in the final period to secure the 21-point victory.

The Bald Eagles’ regular season has come to an end. Lock Haven, the 2023-24 PSAC East Championships, will host a second-round conference tournament playoff game inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. Remaining details on the event will be released on GoLHU.com when they are made available.
