Optimist’s Roundtable

By Martha Sykes

There was a song years ago about signs and the words went like this, “Sign, sign, everywhere a sign” that came to my mind the other day as I was seeing so many signs of Spring. My backyard was full of robins, my daffodils are above the ground and the weather is giving us a taste of nice weather.

When we think about signs all around us as we travel around in our vehicles, we realize how much they are a part of our lives. They help us to know where we are, remind us of the speed limits and make us aware and to know what to do everywhere we go.

If we have read about Noah and the ark, we recall that God filled the sky with a rainbow as a sign of His promise that He will never destroy the world with a flood again. God gave us a seven day week to remind us that He created the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day.

Anything that was performed by Jesus were not just miracles, but they are signs that unveil the glory and power of God working through Jesus. In the scriptures, we can read about the signs of the second coming, which seems like they are always around us, but only God knows when that day will come. In the meantime, let us enjoy these beautiful signs of the next season as we rejoice in creation and know that there is hope for the earth to come alive with the promise of new life.
