CMHS Senior Awards Information Released

MILL HALL-Central Mountain High School recently released the following information on Senior Awards. See the complete release below.

CMHS Senior Awards – General Information

There are approximately 100 – 125 awards each year specifically for CMHS graduates.
Most of these awards are sponsored by people in our community and range from $25 to several thousand dollars.

Some awards recognize your high school achievements or are based on a unique qualification that you possess. Some are based on an activity that you participated in (music, sports). Others are based on what you plan to do in the future.

Most awards require an application though there are a few that are done by nomination only. Some applications go directly to the award sponsor (external awards) and others go to the CMHS Senior Awards Committee (internal awards) for selection.

The CMHS Senior Awards Committee tries to recognize as many different seniors as possible while adhering to the criteria set by the award sponsor when making our selections.

Senior Awards – Process

External Awards (awards with an application that goes directly to the sponsor): Check Schoology for applications – we have started posting award applications as we receive them and these awards have varying due dates from now until May.

Internal Awards: These will all be in the Going Merry scholarship platform (To sign up, go to: https://app.goingmerry.com/sign-up#students). Applications will be open from March 2 – April 15.

A large number of our awards are managed by the Keystone Central Foundation (KCF) on behalf of the sponsors. We work closely with the KCF to make sure we are honoring the wishes of the sponsors. Some of these awards have applications that must be submitted directly to the KCF (external awards) and some will be found on Going Merry (internal awards).

On May 10, we will post a list of all seniors who will be recognized at our awards ceremony so that students and families can plan accordingly. We will not announce which awards students are receiving ahead of time.
Senior Awards Night will be May 29 at 6pm in the CMHS Auditorium. Dessert and beverages will be served at a brief reception after the awards presentations. This is a great opportunity to meet your awards sponsor and say thank you!

Information about Going Merry

Going Merry is a free scholarship matching site for high school students. This is our second year managing our internal award applications through this site. Students can not only apply for our local awards, but they can also be matched with state, regional and national scholarships.

Scholarship bundles: You can apply to multiple scholarships using one application and the same essay prompt.
Vetted scholarships: The Going Merry team periodically reviews every scholarship listing, to ensure the scholarship program is still active and the information is correct.

Personal matching: Once signed up, you’ll answer a few questions to fill out a basic profile, and then get matched to scholarships that fit your background, academics, interests, etc.

Clear organization: You can shortlist favorites and get deadline reminders about them. All drafts and applications are saved, and you’ll get updates on the scholarships you’ve applied to.

Direct, auto-filled applications: You can apply to many scholarships directly on the site (with forms helpfully pre-filled).
