LHU’s Kravetz medals; Men’s Track & Field concludes 2023-24 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships
BETHLEHAM – Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) brought home a silver medal to headline the Lock Haven men’s indoor track and field team on the final day of the 2023-24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday afternoon (Feb. 19).
As a team the Bald Eagles improved by 20 points from a season ago to move up three spots from last year’s finish to fifth overall.
Kravetz brought home silver in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.28. The time earned Kravetz second place and the third-fastest time in program history.
Matthew Muthler (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) put together a banner effort in the two-day heptathlon, where he played fourth over, just missing the medal grouping with an overall score of 4780. Muthler finished in the top-5 in three events and won the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:37.86.
The Bald Eagles had two athletes reach the podium in the 800-meter run in Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) and Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport). Wehrle placed fifth (1:56.89) and Furey finished seventh (1:58.22) to earn six team points.
Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) found the podium again this weekend after finishing seventh in the mile with a time of 4:19.69. Kirk added a 10th-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.57 in an exciting heat.
Jakob Rager (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown Area) finished sixth to reach the podium in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:48.34.
Kwame Whitaker (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) (12.59; ninth) made his first podium appearance in the 200-meter dash as he placed sixth by crossing the line in 22.55.
The Bald Eagles capped off the meet with the 4×400-meter relay with the quartet of Ayden Summers (Altoona, Pa./Altoona), Brennan Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg), Whitaker and Muhler. The team finished eighth with a race of 3:28.05.
