Obituary – Nathan Daniel Evancho
Nathan Daniel Evancho, 38, formerly of Lock Haven, passed away February 11, 2024 in Elmira, New York.
He was born July 7, 1985, to Daniel H. and Melissa Kim (Kauffman) Evancho of Lock Haven.
Nate was a 2003 graduate of Central Mountain High School. He attended flight schools at Beaver Area Community College and in Jacksonville, Florida, earning pilot certifications up to the commercial pilot level. He was an accomplished figure skater representing the Penn State Figure Skating Club and the United States Figure Skating Association at regional, national and international competitions. In 2003, he placed 12th at the U.S. National Championships in Dallas at the Junior level and in 2002, he won the Novice Gold at the North American Challenge Skate in New Brunswick, Canada. He was first employed by Holiday on Ice and then for 12 years he traveled with Disney on Ice having the opportunity to perform in and explore 48 countries, with his favorite countries being Thailand, Japan and Iceland. While in Thailand he earned his Deep Water Diver Certification and volunteered at an elephant sanctuary.
Along with his parents, Nate is survived by his brother, Adam Nicholas and nephew, Daniel Nils Mantzoros Evancho, both of Lock Haven. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Rosemary and Ken Davis of Vero Beach Florida, Nick and Carrie Evancho of Chesapeake, Virginia and Cindy and Jon Updegrove of Allensville; along with several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nick and Bonnie Evancho and Bruce (Sr) and Kathryn Kauffman; an uncle, Steve Evancho; uncle and aunt, Bruce (Jr) and Judy McNitt Kauffman; and a cousin, Stacey Kauffman Spicher.
