Obituary – Ivan B. McElwain

Ivan B. McElwain, 84, of Loganton, PA, passed away on December 18, 2025, at The Gatehouse in Williamsport.

 Ivan was born in Iowa on November 20, 1941. He was a graduate of Boulder High School in Colorado, class of 1959, then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Colorado State University. He was employed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 25 years followed by several years in the Clinton County zoning office and later at SEDA Council of Governments in Lewisburg. In his retirement, Ivan worked as a zoning officer for Greene Township for 10 years.

 Ivan was an avid pheasant hunter with his bird dogs. He also enjoyed trap shooting and reading.  He was a charter member of the Sugar Valley Lion’s Club and a founder of the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School.

 Ivan is survived by his wife Carla Gahm McElwain of Loganton, PA, two sons; Jon McElwain, Dan (Jo) McElwain; daughter Trish (Victor) Marone and five grandchildren; Jim (Terri) McElwain, Alissa (Aaron Reese) McElwain, Allyn McElwain, Victor and Anthony Marone and three great grandchildren; Abigail and Annabelle McElwain and Riley McElwain.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beulah McElwain, sister Junesse Heckendorn and twin brother Alan.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Gatehouse of Williamsport as well as all friends and family that offered their support.
