HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lock Haven softball team wrapped up its first weekend of the season on Sunday (Feb. 18) with a pair of non-conference games on the final day of the LMU Invitational vs. nationally-ranked Grand Valley State and Lincoln Memorial.

The Bald Eagles fell in game one, 11-1, to the second-ranked team in the country Grand Valley State (2-1 overall), before dropping the night cap to LMU (7-6 overall), 11-3.

Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) recorded a hit and scored a run in each game.

Game One: No. 2 Grand Valley State 11, Lock Haven 1 (Five Innings)

Grand Valley State opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the first, before Lock Haven trimmed the deficit to 4-1 with a run in the bottom half.

Good reached safely after being hit by pitch and later scored on an RBI groundout by Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg).

However, that was the final run for The Haven and GVS scored seven runs over the next three innings to earn the run-rule victory.

Keiva Middleton (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) got the start for Lock Haven and all four runs allowed were unearned. Jada Schellhammer (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) (2 Ks) and Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) threw in relief.

Game Two: Lincoln Memorial 11, Lock Haven 3 (Six Innings)

Lock Haven kicked off the scoring in the top of the first when Sydney Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) drove in Good.

Lincoln Memorial countered with a two-spot in the bottom of the first, but the Bald Eagles immediately countered with two runs of their own to regain the lead, 3-2.

Bella Schmitt (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) highlighted the rally with a two-RBI double to right centerfield, scoring Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) and Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy).

However, that would serve as the final runs for The Haven and LMU scored three runs over the third and fifth inning before plating six in the sixth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

Schmitt led the Lock Haven offensive attack with two RBIs and a double. Arrigale added an RBI.

Kinley Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) got the start on the mound for Lock Haven and surrendered three runs in four innings of work, while striking out three.
