No. 8 LHU Women’s Wrestling closes regular season with victory at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE– The No. 8 Lock Haven women’s wrestling team (10-4) picked up its 10th win of the season as the Bald Eagles closed the 2023-24 regular season today (Sunday, Feb. 11) with a 38-9 dual-victory on the road at Ursinus (7-4).

Emma Heslin (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM) and Trinity Monaghan (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) bookended the dual with pins at 101 and 191, respectively as the two headlined the victory.

In all, the Bald Eagles picked up victory in eight of 10 bouts this afternoon.

Heslin (101) opened the match by pinning Mandy Gavares at the 3:18 mark and Monaghan capped the win by pinning Shelly Gushue just 30 seconds into their bout at 191.

Madison Matta (Blue Ridge, Pa./Waynesboro) impressed and won by tech fall, 15-4 (5:49) over Paisley Fox at 136. Lily Sherer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) grinded out an 11-2 victory at 130 over Stacy Bloomfield.

No. 5 Kaelani Shufeldt (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina), Samantha Reitnour (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown), Azariah Moore (Montross, Va./Westmoreland) and No. 10 Stella Steigler (Orange County, Va./Orange County) added wins for The Haven.
