LHU’s Grace Stem named region’s wrestler of the month
LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven women’s wrestling standout Grace Stem (Snow Shoe, Pa./Bald Eagle) has been named the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Region 1 Women’s Wrestler of the Month for November 2023.
The nationally-ranked Bald Eagles have started the season strong and Stem, a sophomore ranked third in the nation at 143, is a big reason why. She is 8-2 on the season, to date, and Stem is coming off a top-10 victory. All eight of Stem’s wins this season are by way of tech fall.
Most recently (Nov. 30), Stem helped power the Bald Eagles to a 35-12 dual-win over No. 22 Elmira. Stem rolled by No. 10 Zoey Lints with a tech fall (10-0) in just 2:52.
At the Adrian College Invitational on Nov. 12, Stem went a perfect 5-0 and claimed top honors. All five of her wins came by way of tech fall as she put on a clinic vs. a talented field.
Stem and the Bald Eagles opened the 2023-24 season at the Princeton Open on Nov. 5. Stem was 2-2 with two tech falls and she placed fourth overall.
