Woodward Township’s Riverview Park walkway taking shape

: Paving is to begin next week on the now closed riverside lane of the Farrandsville Road.

LOCKPORT, PA – The $7.5 million Riverview Park Walkway project is proceeding with the contour of the new walkway now visible as construction work continues along the north side of the Susquehanna River.

A site worker for contractor Clearwater Construction told therecord-online that paving will soon be done on the now closed riverside lane of the Farrandsville Road. Once that is done, he said, one-lane traffic will be switched to that side and pipework will begin under the hillside lane which now carries traffic.

He also said the temporary traffic control system will remain in place over the winter as work continues into 2024. The most recent word from PennDOT said the project linking the north end of the Veterans Bridge to Riverview Park should be done in late June of next year.

Work this year has included building a temporary causeway on the Susquehanna riverbank to serve as a work platform to build the 800-foot retaining wall. Overall work on the project includes roadway realignment, utility relocations, drainage improvements, piping and inlets, construction of a retaining wall, sidewalks, curbing, ornamental light poles, guide rail, paving, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items.
