CM freshman Lindsay set for PIAA tennis championships
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Central Mountain freshman Addison Lindsay heads for Hershey on Thursday in pursuit of continued success on the courts of the Hershey Racquet Club. The undefeated Lady Wildcat has a first-round PIAA tournament match set for Friday at 8 a.m.
Lindsay zipped to the District 6 AAA crown in early October and has been training since then for her first appearance at the state tourney. According to Central Mountain coach Tom Zettle, she has been training with, among others, her father David, and her brother David, the latter a senior this year who already owns three District 6 titles, a PIAA title and a state runner-up medal.
Lindsay’s first round match at states is against Isabelle Emmanuel, the District 1 third-place finisher from Conestoga. The PIAA has scheduled the first round for 8 a.m. and the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. on Friday, the semifinals Saturday at 8 a.m., the championship match at 1 p.m.
Lindsay, as her older brother, are believed to be the first district singles champions from any Clinton County school.
Also competing at states beginning on Friday is Peyton Dincher, a junior from Jersey Shore and the District 4 AA runner-up this season. Her first match in the AA tourney will be at noon on Friday, her opponent Francesca Bartolacci, a senior and the District 11 champion from Moravian Academy.
Lindsay and Dincher had met in a regular season match in September, the Lady Wildcat coming out on top, 6-1, 6-0.
