Buck Boys Fall to Meadowbrook

by Jim Morgan

bucks-basketballFARWELL – The Bucktail boys (4-14) home stand is underway but wins continue to be hard to come by.

Tuesday night saw the Bucks coming out in the first quarter and playing good ball. But lately they are forgetting to play in the second and third quarters as Meadowbrook Christian (14-2) defeated the Bucks 69-56. The big guys Ryan Fantaskey and Ryan Prebble were being fed the ball and scoring at ease in the first quarter. They combined for 12 of the total 19 points scored in the first quarter, Meadowbrook leading 22-19 at the end of one.

Then the Bucks tried from scoring from the outside; that was not going very well. Meadowbrook when into the locker room leading 41-28. In the third quarter, the Bucks had a strong scorer in Prebble as he scored 8 of the total 11 points of the third quarter. Prebble led all Bucks in scoring as he ended up with 15 points. Josh Knauff had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Derrick Long scored 10 points and had 9 assists. Fantaskey ended up with 8 points. Mike Casper came off the bench scoring 8 points also.

The Bucks did pick it up in the fourth quarter, as they could only cut into the lead by four points. The Bucks are giving up on each other. You have to make the best of it until the season is over.

Last Saturday Muncy came to Bucktail as the Bucks played a much better game on the rematch as Muncy won 73-51.

The home stand continues this week as Warrior Run checks in on Thursday and St. John Neumann for a Saturday 3:30 p.m. varsity contest, jayvees at 1 p.m.
