Noto ranked No. 2, one of six Bald Eagles listed in InterMat preseason rankings
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Returning NCAA Division I All-American Anthony Noto (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) of the Lock Haven men’s wrestling team will start the 2023-24 season ranked second nationally at 125 pounds.
Noto is one of six Bald Eagles listed in InterMat’s preseason individual weight-by-weight rankings.
As a team, the Bald Eagles checked in at No. 25 in the preseason team rankings.
Returners Gable Strickland (Benton, Pa./Benton), Avery Bassett (Middleburg, Pa./Midd-West), Tyler Stoltzfus (Mifflinburg, Pa./Saint Joseph’s Academy) and Isaac Reid (Saltsburg, Pa./Kiski) were ranked by InterMat as their respective weight classes.
Strickland is ranked No. 23 at 133, Bassett is ranked No. 31 at 165, Stoltzfus is ranked No. 33 at 174 and Reid is ranked No. 32 at 285.
The Bald Eagles recently announced their recruiting class and one of the additions to the roster for 2023-24 was transfer Wyatt Henson. Henson (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg) is ranked No. 31 at 141. Last season, he was national qualifier while competing at Oklahoma.
Last year, Noto racked up 34 wins (34-4) on the way to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He became Lock Haven’s 44th Divison I All-American.
Both Strickland and Stoltzfus were national qualifiers a year ago.
