Clinton County Arts Council announces Summer Art Academy for students

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton County Arts Council and Station Gallery announce the 2023 Summer Art Academy for students in grades 5-8, grades 3-8 for Camp Create.

“This is a special summer art experience for students in grades 5-8 exhibiting interest and/or talents in the visual arts.” “Students going into grade 5 or grade 8 the coming school year are eligible,” says the official camp interest form.

Each camp is $30 per person and is payable on the first day of the art camp or can be mailed to the Arts Council located at 2 East Bald Eagle Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745. There are four camps available to choose from, and all four may be chosen if the student is interested. Several projects will be created in each camp.

Hurry! There are limited spots for each camp, and students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the campsite. Instructors are photographers and artists from the local community.

2023 CCAC Summer Art Academy Registration

Shutterflies 1.0 (Basic Photography)
Instructor: Bruce Wallace
July 10 – 14, 2023, 7 Students
Bruce will lead the students through a group of sessions that focus on basic use of a camera, basic techniques involved in creating a photograph, and basic technique in processing a photograph on a computer. Each day will consist of a brief workshop followed by a “photo walk” to capture images that reflect what was taught in the workshop.

Shutterflies 2.0 (Has some experience.)
Instructor: Bruce Wallace
July 17 – 21, 2023, 7 Students
Students taking this class should have taken Shutterflies before or have developed some basic skills in use of a camera and use of photo processing apps. Students will have some time to take photos. The main focus of the camp will be on learning how to edit images using a free online photo app much like Photoshop. The application is Photopea.

Camp Create (Middle School Level)
Instructor: Amy Askey
July 24 – 28, 2023, 12 Students Exception: Camp Create is open to grades 3 to 8 )
Amy is returning this summer with an exciting mix of art experiences for students grades 3-8! They are: Mixed Media Landscape, Chalk Pastel Stained Glass Windows, Neurographic Art – Mindful Doodles, and Felt Creatures.

Let’s Make A Movie!
Instructors: Steve Getz and Rich Wykoff
July 10 – 14, 2023, 8 students
Goal: Students will use iMovie to explore making a movie trailer and a movie.
Students will:
learn the basic skills necessary to create an iMovie
use cell phones or cameras to take pictures and video clips to complete a finished project.
Note: Students will have the option of working individually or with a partner.
