Adam Bechdel named PennDOT Highway Maintenance Manager for Juniata and Mifflin counties
CLEARFIELD, PA – Thomas A. Prestash, P.E., District Executive of PennDOT District 2-0 recently announced that Adam D. Bechdel of Mill Hall has been named the Highway Maintenance Manager for Mifflin and Juniata counties, effective as of May 13.
“Through his 23 years of experience with the Department, Adam has gained extensive experience and developed significant understanding of the management of transportation systems, “Prestash said. “Adam has proven his ability to meet challenges head-on and we believe his leadership abilities will prove beneficial to customers and staff alike.”
In 2021, Bechdel received one of the Department’s highest honors when he was named as a PennDOT Star of Excellence. He earned the recognition for his willingness to serve the Department by accepting additional operational responsibilities, assisting through county reorganizations, and identifying ways to save tax-payer dollars.
As the Highway Maintenance Manager for Mifflin and Juniata counties, Bechdel will oversee 93 employees to ensure proper maintenance of almost 1,500 miles of state-owned roadway and 437 state-owned bridges.
After attending Penn State University, Bechdel’s career with PennDOT started in 2000 when he accepted a position as a Temporary Equipment Operator. Through the course of his career with District 2-0, he has progressed through many titles including Equipment Operator, Foreman, Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager, and Acting Highway Maintenance Manager. Additionally, Adam served the Department as the Assistant Regional Manager for the Operations and Performance Office.
Adam is a life-long resident of Clinton County, residing in Mill Hall with his family.
