Lori Louise Amoruso
Obituary
Amoruso, Lori Louise, nee Brown, resident of Garfield, passed on January 07, 2023 at the age of 67.
Lori was born in Paterson, NJ. She grew up in Garfield and Lodi. A graduate of Lodi High School. Lori worked as a CNA and accounting clerk, before graduating from Delaware Technical Community College with an AAS in Licensed Practical Nursing. She worked in Country Rest Home while in school. After acquiring her LPN, she was a traveling nurse in Delaware and NJ, before returning to Delaware Technical Community College to complete an AAS for Registered Nurse. She continued working as a traveling nurse in NJ for a few years. She then, was an Assistant Director of Nursing for Genesis Healthcare in Phillipsburg. When she moved back to Bergen County, Lori continued her career as an RN as Nurse Supervisor for Actor’s Fund. Finally, she fulfilled her destiny as a compassionate hospice nurse at Care Alternatives and Life Source Hospice. Lori comforted many patients and their families and yet she was able to balance her life with quick lunches or shopping sprees with coworkers, enjoying laughter, good food, bargains and fun times.
Lori was blessed with a natural ability to care for people. Many friends can attest to that. Caring for people is what reunited Lori with Victor Amoruso. She was there for both his elderly parents and him, which rekindled their relationship. They were married shortly after. Although, she didn’t have children, if you ever heard her talk about April Ann, you would have thought she did. She loved her fur baby to pieces.
Lori was always smiling, complementing others, and laughing. She was always there for family, friends, patients and their families. Lori loved cooking, entertaining, good food, many friends, sharing her great sense of humor, opera and oldies music, discussing politics and world events. She had a quick mind, and great memory. Lori knew all the back roads of Bergen County; she was never lost, I think she could tell you how to get anywhere in Bergen County. But, of all her life’s enjoyments, shopping and the Lord topped the list. Lori had a smile on her face and Jesus in her heart, always. Her faith never faltered. Lori’s family and many, many friends and coworkers will miss her greatly.
Lori was greeted in heaven by her father, Robert Arthur Brown, Jr. Survived by her beloved husband, Victor Amoruso; devoted mother, Louise Brown; loving sister Sue-Brown Henry; dear aunt to Gary Kristopher and Starr Angelica Henry; and mother to her sweet puppy April Ann.
Memorial and Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 2PM at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 151 S. Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church or Life Source Hospice.
