Words of Grace

By Rev. Mahlon Nevel

The beloved apostle John spent many years as an exile on the island of Patmos. The Revelation of John gives us this information. (1:9)

It has been reported that, when John was released from Patmos, he’s spoke in many of the churches. His messages were short because he was elderly.

Being helped to his feet and helped up by an assistant, he declared, “Beloved, let us love one another.”

These words are found in the First Epistle of John, the fourth chapter. Love is referred to over and over:
“Love is of God.” (v. 7)
“God is love.” (v. 8, 16)
“The love of God.” (v. 9)
“God so loved us.” (v. 11)

Then John makes this statement: “And when we have known and believed the love that God has to us.”
(v. 16)

Do you know that God loves you? There are many that do not know about the love that God has for us.
Do you believe that God loves you? There are many that do not believe that God could love them.
Do you love God? If we love God, it is because God first loved us. (v. 19)

God loved us so much, according to John 3:16, that he gave his only begotten son for us. And Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life for us.

“Jesus loves me! this I know, for the Bible tells me so… Yes Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.”
