Bucktails Kendall Wagner takes wrestling title, shoots hoops, stays busy
ALLPORT, PA – It’s been a busy holiday period for Bucktail High School freshman Kendall Wagner, logging a lot of miles, covering a lot of ground. Wagner is that rare high school athlete who competes in two PIAA sports in the same season. In Wagner’s case it’s hoops with Bucktail High School and wrestling through the school’s co-op program, at Central Mountain High.
This week has been especially challenging: on Wednesday Kendall was part of the Central Mountain girls’ wrestling team competing at the Powerade tournament in Canonsburg in southwestern Pennsylvania; not only did she compete, but she earned the title in the 185-pound girls division.
Wrestling in Canonsburg on Wednesday, she was unable to make the Bucktail girls’ game at West Branch High School that night. But Wagner, a key reserve for the Lady Bucks, was there on Thursday and scored three points in a Bucktail win.
Three other Central Mountain wrestlers, Gracie Johnson, Paisley Beatty and Emma Scarborough also competed at the Powerade event.
