Wildcats win PV tourney opener over Juniata, 71-46
SPRING MILLS, PA – The Central Mountain boys’ basketball team continued its hot start to the current season with a 71-46 Wednesday win over Juniata (4-2). The win put coach Tyler Bardo’s team at 6-0 on the season; it came in a semifinal game at the Penns Valley High School holiday tournament. With the victory the Wildcats move into the Thursday championship game against the winner of a Wednesday contest between Penns Valley (0-4) and Bellefonte (2-3). Central Mountain already owns a 72-51 win over Bellefonte in early December.
The three-pointers were falling for the Wildcats Wednesday: 10 in all, led by Haydn Pardoe’s four on his way to 18 points. Jack Hanna had three treys, part of a 26-point night for the Wildcat guard.
3-pointers, one each, came from Hunter Hoy (5 points on the night), Dom Longworth (5 points) and Xavier Person (3 points). Other ‘Cat scorers were Essex Taylor with 8 and Levi Schlesinger, Jeremy Reese and Caleb Mahoney with 2 each. CM went 9-for-10 from the foul line.
