Lady Wildcats pull away from BEA for 55-44 win
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The shots were falling for the Central Mountain girls’
basketball team Friday night as they knocked off neighboring Bald Eagle Area by a 55-44 score.
Senior standout Kiahna Jones led the way for the home team with a career-high 27 points.
A back-and-forth first period ended with the Lady Eagles on top by an 11-9 score. The Lady ‘Cats put up an 11-3 edge in period two for a 20-14 halftime lead and extended the margin to 36-26 after three.
The 6-foot Jones finished 10-of-23 from the field, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. She was 5-for-8 from the foul line, pulled down 10 rebounds, blocked five shots, had two steals and an assist on the night. Lena Walker was next with 7 points, followed by Danica Kelly and Taylor Doyle with 5, Tara Mader with 4, 2 each from Keely Rohrbach, Ava Doyle and Morgan Temple; Macy Plowman with 1.
The win put coach Scott Baker’s team at 2-1 heading into Heartland Conference playing beginning Tuesday, Dec. 13, home with Mifflinburg. BEA fell to 1-1 with the loss.
