Keystone 11s down Tri Valley, 10-3, for Sectional crown
ATHENS, PA – Another tourney, another Little League banner for the Keystone 11s. Manager Cole Hanley’s team had the bats working Monday in the Section 3 title game, a 10-3 win for Keystone. The victory was the second over Tri Valley (it was 3-2 on Saturday) and puts Keystone into the 8-team state tournament starting Saturday, July 23 at Sayre, an 8 p.m. opener.
Keystone used the long ball in Monday’s win, getting a homerun, single and three RBIs from Camden Fuller and a 3-RBI homerun from Bryan Rote. Evan Edwards went 2-for-3 with a double; Logan Bower had two singles and two runs batted in, Carter Frank with a double and Maverick Smith with a single.
Rote and Edwards shared the mound duties. Rote went the first 4.2 innings, giving up four hits, three runs, walking three and striking out seven and also picking up the win. Edwards finished with 1.1 innings of one-hit ball, giving up no runs, striking out one and issuing no walks.
Monday marked two sectional games for Keystone without committing an error.
Manager Hanley was pleased: “Very happy for the boys. A lot of hard work has paid off! The boys work their tail off! Our pitching has stepped up so much and the defense behind them! Total team effort from the boys!”
