Lieutenant Governor candidate Sims visits Clinton County

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Saturday saw state Rep. Brian Sims visit with local citizens at Ave 209 in Lock Haven. Rep. Sims, one of three Democrats running for the Lieutenant Governor’s seat in the May 17 primary, Is currently a member of the state House of Representatives.

In speaking about his campaign, he explained that the Lieutenant Governor has three duties: they preside over the PA Senate and cast tie-breaking votes when necessary; the Lieutenant Governor is the chair of the board of pardons. In this role, the LG has the great responsibility to review criminal cases and to recommend clemencies to the Governor. Rep. Sims says he is ready to step into this position as an experienced attorney who actively defended civil rights, equality issues, disability issues, and environmental issues. The third responsibility of the LG is to chair the Emergency Management Council. In this role, the LG convenes experts to address the crisis at hand.

A 10-year House member, he said he has the experience to successfully step into these roles immediately and the passion to fight and “bring Pennsylvania back to a more positive and productive form of government.”
He said he will “continue working to reform our broken criminal justice system and strive to protect the environment. He emphasized the importance of the rural vote.

Sims said he has visited 67 Pennsylvania counties, often camping along the way. He represents a portion of Philadelphia in the House’s 182nd district.
