CM Soccer Programs Draw State in Districts
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – After better than a week of tune-up time the Central Mountain soccer programs will begin the postseason next Monday, both the boys’ and the girls’ programs drawing State College as their opponents.
Coach Jeff Brinker’s boys’ program finished 12-5 and earned the District 6 number two seed, securing the Wildcats a 6 p.m. Monday home game with third-seeded State College (10-6-2).
The winner will advance to the district championship game Wednesday against the winner of the other Monday semifinal, number four Altoona against top-seeded Hollidaysburg.
The Wildcats did not meet State College in the regular season but own road wins over Hollidaysburg, 1-0 in overtime, and Altoona, a 1-0 score.
Central Mountain last played Oct. 13, a 3-0 win over Mifflinburg.
Coach Ryan Veltri’s girls’ team ended at 8-8-1, drawing a third seed and a trip to State College Monday for a 7 p.m. match-up at Memorial Field against the second-seeded Lady Little Lions (10-6-2).
The Lady Wildcats lost 1-0 to State in the regular season; they do hold wins over top-seeded Hollidaysburg, 1-0 in overtime, and four seed Altoona, 2-1.
The Lady Golden Tigers will be hosting Altoona in the other girls’ semifinal on Monday.
The Central Mountain girls last played last Saturday, a 4-0 win over Jersey Shore, Gabby Martin netting three goals.
