CM Boys Soccer Strong Finish
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP –District 6 soccer playoff pairings come out later this week and the Central Mountain boys team appears ready for the postseason to begin as soon as next week.
The Wildcats are 12-5 after a 3-0 Monday home field whitewash of Mifflinburg. They finish up at Milton on Wednesday and then await announcement on the playoffs.
With the Monday win Central Mountain moved to 12-5, the same record as Hollidaysburg, Altoona right behind at 8-4 and State College in at 8-6-2. Wildcat coach Jeff Brinker is hoping to draw at least a number two seed which would get his team a home semifinal game on Oct. 28.
Mifflinburg (8-8-1) stayed with Central Mountain for much of the first half on Monday but senior Tom Eaton, off a feed from freshman Matthew Storeman, scored the game’s first goal at the 30:53 mark.
CentralMountain would add two second half goals, both from senior Emery Watson, one off a feed from Eaton, the other off an assist from Phil Brinker.
David Kohen was again solid in net for the Wildcats, credited with five saves.
Depending on the Central Mountain seed and the number of district entrants, the Wildcats could have a home quarterfinal game next Thursday, Oct. 23. If not the first playoff game would be the district semifinals Oct. 28; the championship game will be played Oct. 30.
