Midd-West defeats CM boys, 3-0

The Central Mountain boys’ soccer team battled hard with Midd-West Wednesday night before falling 3-0.

Midd-West, ranked #6 in the state by the PSCA Coaches Poll, came in ready to go, but the Wildcats matched their energy. A few chances created by Nate Brinker and Peyton Jones in the first half were close but couldn’t find the back of the net. Two impressive set piece goals were the difference at halftime.

The second half saw more of the same, with CM seeing a few opportunities that they just couldn’t finish. A shot from outside the box made it 3-0 for Midd-West before the final whistle.

Wildcat Coach Bill Hook said, “The Wildcats knew they were going to be in for a tough one, and embraced the challenge. The defense played strong all night, and the midfield did a great job organizing defensively and creating a strong second line of defense in front of Clay Confer’s goal. The senior goalie was on his toes all night and cleaning up a lot of Midd-West opportunities. The team knew they could create chances against the tough opponent if they worked hard and showcased some skill, and they were able to do that for 80 minutes.”

Boys soccer(3-9) is home again Saturday morning vs. South Williamsport, currently ranked #8 in the state by the PSCA Coaches poll.
