STATE COLLEGE, PA – Newly crowned Olympic champion David Taylor returned to what he thought would be a practice session at his M2 Training Center Thursday night. The training would be the first he has conducted since training and then competing in Japan in the 2021 Olympics. He was surprised it turned out to be more than a practice.

He later posted that instead the families of center participants put together a surprise celebration. He said, “M2TC is my family, and it was so special to see everyone last night.”

Multiple Central Mountain High School wrestlers train at the training center. Among those present Thursday night were Dalton Perry, Luke Simcox and Griffin Walizer.

Taylor indicated his Olympic success can be seen as a teaching moment: “I’ve been telling these kids for five years that we are working on chasing and achieving our dreams together! This Gold Medal gives every kid hope that if they work hard and continue to chase their dreams, it’s possible!”
