COVID-19 Update: State Cases Surge Again; Clinton, Up Two; Centre Up 37; Lyco Up Seven
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health Saturday confirmed as of 12:00 a.m., October 17, that there were 1,857 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 18,943. The number of new cases continues an 11-day surge, the one-day total increase the largest since spring.
There are 8,466 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of nine new deaths reported.
State figures show that 847 victims are hospitalized statewide, up more than a hundred from last week and up 300 from a month ago.
Local counties’ numbers: Clinton County, up two to 237; Centre County, up 37to 3,687; Lycoming up seven to 873. Other area counties include Cameron, 8; Clearfield, 389; Potter, 40; and Union, 636.
There were 4,762 Clinton County residents with negative test results, an increase of 22 from Friday.
