Lewisburg Dragons Down Wildcat Booters, 9-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain boys’ soccer team learned Monday night why Lewisburg is a perennial power in schoolboy soccer. The Green Dragons, now 12-0, left Malinak Stadium with a convincing 9-0 win.
Lewisburg took PIAA titles in 2017 and 2018 and was a state semi-finalist a year ago and look to again be a state challenger this year. The Dragons scored early and often in opening a 7-0 halftime lead and peppered Wildcat goalkeeper Cy Probst with 19 shots on goal. The visitors also had 13 corner kicks.
Central Mountain meanwhile had few opportunities. In fact the Lewisburg goalkeeper did not even touch the ball until just over two minutes remained in the first half. The Wildcats were much more competitive in the second half and just missed a goal when a free kick from Nathan Brinker clanked off the crossbar.
The Brinker effort was Central Mountain’s lone shot on goal and the Wildcats had no corner kicks.
The Wildcats, now 2-10-1, are to travel to Hughesville on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest and host Warrior Run Saturday at 11 a.m.
