Seals Whitewash CM Boys Soccer
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Selinsgrove Seals boys’ soccer team brought its “A” game to Malainak Stadium on Tuesday night and headed home with a 7-0 win over Central Mountain.
The Seals are now 3-1 on the year, their only loss by a 2-1 margin to perennial state power Lewisburg earlier this month. Central Mountain fell to 2-3 with the loss.
Selinsgrove scored early and often, going up 4-0 by halftime and tacking on three more goals in the second half. Meanwhile the Wildcats were held to four shots. The ‘Cats did have a couple solid scoring chances in the first half off shots from Chase Young (who was later injured) and Asher Talbot, but could not convert.
Central Mountain goalie Cy Probst was game all night long and made multiple outstanding saves but the Seal offense was unrelenting, taking 28 shots in all. Selinsgrove also had an edge in corner kicks, eight to one.
The jayvee game went to Selinsgrove, 3-0. The Wildcats will next be in action Thursday, Sept. 24 at Mifflinburg, game time 4 p.m. There will be no jayvee contest Thursday. Central Mountain will travel to Warrior Run Saturday for an 11 a.m. match, jayvees to follow.
