Seals Bop Lady Wildcats, 4-0

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Selinsgrove girls’ soccer team broke open a defensive battle, scoring three second half goals to down Central Mountain by a 4-0 score Monday night at Malinak Stadium.

The young Lady Wildcats, starting four freshmen, hung with the 3-2 Seals through the first half, down 1-0 at the break. But Selinsgrove in the second half punched across goals early, midway and towards the end for the 4-0 final.

Central Mountain goalie Madison Briggs made a number of solid saves as she was peppered by 14 Seal shots. The Lady Wildcats had a handful of scoring opportunities, including several from senior forward Avery Baker, but could not put the ball in the net. It was the first time this season Central Mountain failed to score a goal.

Shots on goal favored the Seals, 14 to 5, and the visitors had an edge in corner kicks, 8-3. Central Mountain travels to Mifflinburg on Wednesday, Sept. 23 for its next contest.
