Mary Stella Long, 69, of Renovo, passed away on April 14, 2020. Formerly of Howard, Mary was born October 3, 1950 in Lock Haven, PA, the daughter of the late Russell Malcolm and Helen Sybilla (Chapman) Jones.

Mary graduated from Bald Eagle Area High School in 1968 and continued her education at Lock Haven State College where she earned her teaching degree in 1972. Mary was a substitute English teacher for a few years. She then went on to work for DCNR for 32 years as a secretary before retiring in 2006.

On April 10, 1982, Mary married Donald Alfred Long, Jr., at the Zion Lutheran Church in Renovo. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her daughter, Dawn Marie Long (Tom Reynolds), sons, Donald (Bo) Alfred Long, III (Shealei Long), and Russell Eugene Long (Christine Long); grandchildren, Payton Rose Long, Bo Malcolm Long, Easton Lane Long, and one due in October; sister-in-laws, Marjorie (John) Grotzinger and Carol (Richard) Whipkey; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Ernest Jones, Kenneth Jones, and Thomas Jones and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald (Buck) Long, Sr. and Marjorie Long.

As a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Renovo, Mary was once the superintendent of the Sunday School Classes and also served as the finance secretary. She was an active volunteer for Troop 137 serving as the secretary and treasurer. Mary was a social member as well as the secretary for the Renovo Fire Department.

When her children were younger, you could have found Mary at dance recitals, the baseball fields, football fields, or basketball courts. She loved planting flowers, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she absolutely adored.  She was always up for a shopping trip or Dairy Queen. She dedicated a lot of time to helping her husband with Troop 137. As of late, Mary and her husband enjoyed taking mountain rides together. She also appreciated spending time with her best friend, Kathy McAulay and chatting with her dear friend, Barb Mills, on the phone.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Renovo or the Renovo Fire Department.

A service for the immediate family only will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at 1:00pm at the Fairview Cemetery in Renovo.
